An important point of the model change is settling the employment situation of the professors and the staff. In this regard MOME's position is clear: the university aspires to provide employees a better, more attractive employment and income situation in the future. Due to the change in maintenance, we are moving from public service to employment under the Labour Code, which will certainly bring about changes.
There are several benefits of working as a civil servant (e.g. jubilee bonuses, travel vouchers, extra days off, etc.), but in a public servant contract, the parties are only legally equal, and in many respects there is no room for negotiations. Both parties need to comply with the legal requirements, and the decisions of the maintainer might bind them all.
In the case of an employment status, the collective contract or the agreement between the parties may vary widely from the law, thus giving both parties (employer and employee) a greater leeway. Over the next six months, it will be our task at MOME to develop the new and more attractive employment and benefit system and to work out the shift from employment according to the Civil Service Act to employment under the Labour Code, with collective agreements.
