Full-time Photography MA and Interaction Design MA degree programmes in English language are available at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest. The graduate MA programmes are 2 years in length (4 semesters), and cover 120 ECTS credits.
Admission requirements
Academic requirements:
Any university degree already obtained or to be obtained in the year of application, proven with a bachelor’s certificate or a master’s diploma.
Language requirements:
B2 level English language proficiency.
Programme-specific requirements:
Admission is based on the applicant’s professional portfolio, including their previous work and on their personal introduction at the interviews. This way, prospective students are selected based on their talent, abilities and previous achievements and works.
The following documents should be uploaded to the web hosting service of MOME. An email with the link and information about how to upload these will be sent in May to every applicant registered in the Hungarian Central Application System at https://www.felvi.hu/ or the university’s application interface at https://apply.mome.hu/ (depending on citizenship). Please bring a copy of your application material, and proof of payment of the application fee to the interview.

Admission Interview:
Portfolios will be reviewed by a committee of our professors. Applicants invited for an interview will be sent an email with the exact date of the interview later. International applicants may be interviewed online.

Application for Hungarian citizens
The application for Hungarian citizens is closed.
Hungarian citizens may apply for both state-funded programmes and self-funded programmes. You must select the desired option during your www.felvi.hu registration.
Hungarian citizens should apply via the Hungarian Central Application System at www.felvi.hu.

Student Visa
If you apply to our programmes from a country outside the EEA/EU, you may need to apply for a Study Visa to enter Hungary.
Upon successful admission to the selected programme, we will provide you with a letter of acceptance which you can use for your visa application. You will also receive a certificate of enrolment once you have completed the registration process at the beginning of the semester.

Tuition fee
For Hungarian and EEA citizens, the programme is available with self-funding as well as with state-funding (subject to special conditions).
Hungarian citizens
- state-funded programme (subject to special conditions)
- self-funded programme: HUF 1,850,000/semester
EEA citizens
- self-funded programme: EUR 5,000/semester
- state-funded programme (subject to special conditions)
Non-EEA citizens
- self-funded programme: EUR 12,000/semester
MOME offers a Regional Social Mobility Scholarship to citizens of Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine, covering up to 100% of tuition fees based on professional accomplishments and financial situation.
For non-EEA citizens not mentioned in the above list, the program is available with self-funding only.
Application fee
For those applying through the Hungarian Central Application System:
MOME charges an application fee of HUF 4,000/study programme/applicant for applications submitted through the Hungarian Central Application System available at https://www.felvi.hu/. (If you choose to apply to two different study programmes, you will need to make a payment of HUF 4,000 twice.)

Fill out the form, including your contact details and billing information. Provide a valid email address. Following a SimplePay online payment, you will receive the invoice for the payment via email. The proof of payment for the application fee must be submitted electronically along with your application material.
Information about the path and registration process of the service will be sent via email in May/June to every applicant registered in the Hungarian Central Application System (https://www.felvi.hu/).
For those applying through the MOME application system:
MOME charges an application fee of EUR 150/study programme/applicant for applications submitted through the MOME application system available at https://apply.mome.hu/. (If you choose to apply to two different study programmes, you will need to make a payment of EUR 150 twice.)
Scholarship
MOME offers several scholarships.
The Regional Social Mobility Scholarship is available to citizens of Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine, covering up to 100% of tuition fees based on professional accomplishments and financial situation. The Stefan Lengyel Excellence Scholarship is a monthly grant awarded to MOME students for one semester to honour outstanding achievements during the previous semester. Inclusion in the first round is automatic. Click here for more details.
Dorm and living costs
MOME dorm
MOME provides dorm places to its international students who are eligible for the Regional Social Mobility Scholarship.
The dorm:

You can submit your application for a dorm place together with your application for the Regional Social Mobility Scholarship. You will receive an email with detailed information on how to apply for a dorm place after successfully submitting your application for the selected MA.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT THE PHOTOGRAPHY MA WILL ONLY BE OFFERED IN ENGLISH IN 2022? WHO CAN APPLY?
Our Photography MA will only be available in English from 2022, which means that in addition to holding a degree certificate, at least B2 level English language proficiency will also be required. Application for both the self-funded and the state-funded programme is open to Hungarian and foreign citizens alike.
HOW CAN I APPLY?
Hungarian citizens: Applications for our English-language Master’s programmes should be submitted through the central application procedure using the E-application platform of felvi.hu by 15 February 2022.
Foreign citizens: Applications for our English-language Master’s programmes (Photography and Interaction Design) should be submitted through MOME’s own application interface at https://apply.mome.hu/ by 15 April 2022.
WHY CAN’T I FIND THE INTERACTION DESIGN MA ON FELVI.HU? (FOR HUNGARIAN CITIZENS)
Our Interaction Design MA programme will be published in the end-of-January supplement to the Admission Information Brochure for 2022, which means application for this new programme will start on 1 February 2022 at felvi.hu.
I AM A FOREIGN CITIZEN. CAN I APPLY TO A STATE-FUNDED PROGRAMME?
Citizens of EEA countries and their family members, third-country citizens covered by Act LXII of 2001 on Hungarians Living in Neighbouring Countries or claiming to be Hungarian nationals, and other foreign applicants as defined in Section 39(1) of Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education may be accepted for state-funded programmes the same way as Hungarian citizens. Applications for state-funded programmes can be submitted through the interface of felvi.hu by 15 February 2022. You can find information about the requirements of state-funded programmes here:

HOW CAN I APPLY IF I HAVE DUAL CITIZENSHIP INCLUDING HUNGARIAN?
Applicants with dual citizenship, if one of them is Hungarian, must choose which citizenship they wish to use for the application. If they choose to use their Hungarian citizenship, they can only submit their applications through the interface of felvi.hu, by 15 February 2022. If they wish to use their foreign citizenship, see the questions and answers of this FAQ relating to application by foreign citizens. The citizenship chosen and used for the application must also be used for the academic work (later on, no claim or reference to Hungarian citizenship can be made if Hungarian citizenship was not used for the application).
HOW MUCH WILL A SEMESTER COST IF I GET ACCEPTED FOR A SELF-FUNDED PROGRAMME?
The costs of self-funded programmes will be HUF 1,850,000/semester for Hungarian citizens, EUR 5,000/semester for citizens of EEA countries, and EUR 12,000/semester for citizens of non-EEA countries.
ARE THERE DORM PLACES AVAILABLE?
Yes, dormitory places are available to students attending state-funded programmes, and are awarded based on social situation. The dorm building is a 10-minute walk from the university and features double rooms. Each of the two floors in the dorm building has a shared kitchen and laundry room. There is also a large shared lounge in the building. Each room has Internet access.
I ALREADY HAVE A DEGREE. CAN I APPLY FOR A STATE-FUNDED MASTER’S PROGRAMME?
Applicants who have not used up their 12-semester grant period may apply for state-funded programmes regardless of whether or not they have already received a degree.

WHAT TYPE OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATION SHOULD I EXPECT? PHYSICAL OR ONLINE?
All details of the examination procedure will be published on our university’s website. Depending on the course of the pandemic over time, the university reserves the right to change the dates and method of taking the entrance examinations. Any potential changes will be published on our website at https://mome.hu/en/degree-studies.
WILL I GET NOTIFIED ABOUT THE DATE AND ROUNDS OF THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS?
For the most part, information about the dates and other requirements of the exams is available on the university’s website (https://mome.hu/en/degree-studies). In addition, the applicants will also get email notifications about the most important information from the university.
HOW WILL THE SCORES BE CALCULATED FOR THE MA PROGRAMMES?
The maximum score for the MA entrance examinations is 99. Up to one additional point may be awarded for equal opportunities considerations.
I AM PLANNING TO APPLY TO AN MA PROGRAMME. CAN I DO THE TRAINING WHILE WORKING?
Our Master’s programmes are offered on a full-time basis with students’ presence required on weekdays during the day.
WHAT PRIOR QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED TO APPLY TO AN MA PROGRAMME?
The prerequisite for application is having a degree certificate (diploma). No special prior qualifications are required, and prospective students are selected on the basis of their talent and competence during the university’s admission procedures.
