Villő Turcsámy PULZE IMPULSES | interactive space installation

2021. June 16., 18:00 - 2021. June 18. Trafó Main Hall

According to H. Bergson, the body is a medium: ‘The body is the transitional place of received and returned movements, the link between things that affect us and things that we affect. In one word, the place of sensorimotor processes.’

On 16 June 2021, Trafó House of Contemporary Art will open its doors with a special event open to the public for three days. After the emergency lockdown due to the epidemic, the rebuilt spaces are finally open to the public, where visitors will be welcomed by an audiovisual experience that can be further shaped in real time by the movement of all those present. In this way, a kind of ‘post-representative space’ (N. Sternfeld) is created, where we become part of the game and actors in the action. Based on the programmed formulas of Villő Turcsány, her pendulum sculptures move in space with a particular rhythm.

The dramaturgy of spatialisation allows our biological and spiritual essence to become visible through abstracted forms. The pulse rates of our body, the systolic and diastolic pulsations, form the first ‘intonation’. Following the path of a narrow corridor, we enter the polyphonic system of theatre space, a system of pendulum movements, accompanied by the rhythm of our spatial movements transformed into signs. On a huge canvas, the rhythm formula of the impulses given by the pendulums and the abstract and constantly moving sign structure of individual movements appearing as dots or lines become visible simultaneously. The accidental presence of the viewer in the space thus generates signals that are synthesised by a software-based system and converted into a ‘moving image’.

The composed sound and rhythm, the sensory capture of movements based on thermal sensing, and the projection animation create an experiential space: The theatre scene, transformed into an experimental space, welcomes the visitor into a medium of meditation - interaction - participation.

I’m O.K.
